- Getting all their favourite toys into their mouths
Always trust your instinct when it comes to your little one, you will know when the time is right. If you baby pushes out what you give them, don’t worry wait a week and try again.
Here’s some tips on how to get started with weaning:
Choose the right time of day for weaning
Choose a time of day when they are awake and alert, when you have plenty of time! Your baby won’t be in the mood for food if they are sleepy so it’s best to avoid that when you are starting out.
Pick the right foods to start weaning
A smooth puree to start with, this includes fruit and vegetables. It’s recommended to start with vegetables so that your baby doesn’t get used to the sweeter fruits straight away. Try carrot and swede, potato or sweet potato, and cauliflower, apples, pears or a ripe well mashed banana.
